Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter to express my concern that I have with your products.

It is payjama set that I purchased from Zara well famous company. It costed me around $40. It is in pink colour with flower print. And made of cotten fabric.

When I saw this product on website it shows shirt with full sleeves, but when I recieved, it did not keep up with expectations. Apart from this I odered medium size and recieved large size.

The main reason to buy this product as I would like to wear it on my bridal shower ceremony on 7th november after 3 days, so I need it as soon as possible. No doubt quality and colour of product excellent. That is a reason I want to replace this pair of clothe rather than return.

I am looking forward from your side and let me know if you need other deatails regarding this purchase.

Thank you,

Revanshi

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three required points: you identify the purchase, explain that the sleeves and size differ from what you expected, and give a clear reason for needing a replacement quickly. The bridal-shower date makes the urgency specific, while your statement that you prefer replacement to a refund clarifies the action you want. These details keep the response focused and give the reader a clear purpose. To make the request more complete, state exactly what replacement you need—for example, the correct medium size with full sleeves—and ask the company to confirm whether it can arrive before the ceremony. The purchase details could also be more precise, such as the order date or reference number, if available.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The information follows a sensible sequence: you introduce your concern, describe the item, explain the mismatch, and then give the reason for urgency and your preferred solution. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “Apart from this” and “The main reason” guide the reader through the message. This gives the letter a coherent overall arrangement. Some links are less natural or precise, however: “Apart from this” does not clearly show how the size issue relates to the sleeve problem, and “I am looking forward from your side” does not clearly signal the response you expect. Use more direct transitions and end with a specific request for confirmation to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the purchase and complaint, including “full sleeves,” “medium size,” “bridal shower ceremony,” and “replace.” The reader can understand the main problems and why they matter. However, several spelling errors and awkward word choices reduce precision and naturalness, such as “payjama,” “cotten,” “recieved,” “odered,” and “deatails.” Some phrases are also imprecise: “products” is broad when you mean one item, and “pair of clothe” is not a natural way to refer to the set. Check spelling carefully and choose standard clothing and customer-service terms. More precise wording would make the complaint sound clearer and more professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The letter includes mostly straightforward sentence patterns, with some attempts to connect ideas, for example, “When I saw this product on website it shows shirt with full sleeves, but when I recieved, it did not keep up with expectations.” This conveys the comparison, but the tense shifts and missing grammatical elements make the sentence difficult to follow. Other examples include “It is payjama set” and “And made of cotten fabric,” where the article is missing and the second fragment has no subject or verb. The sentence beginning “The main reason to buy this product as I would like…” also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Practise complete sentences, consistent past tense for the purchase and delivery, and accurate articles and clause construction.
