Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir
My name is bhupinder singh, I am writing this letter to address a issue regarding my recent purchase from your online platform;however, it is very imperative curcial for me because its very expensive electronic gadget called ipad and got that on black friday sale.
Moreover, when i received my delivery parcel yesterday, i found that product which i ordered was broken whereas the warranty card was missing too. I am very disappointed with this kind of careless delivery service please make sure to elect the professional team for this task so that it won't happen again. Not only with this effort your organisation sales will escalate but it will also improvise customer satisfaction.
Furthermore, i want my gadget to be replaced as soon as possible because it is affecting my professional work as well. i usually use at my work for my architectural design whilst i want present my designs to the clients and frommy ipad and it is very fisible for me.
Thank for your time and cordination. looking for your revert as your earliest convenience
Regards
Bhupinder Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the main requirements by identifying the purchase as an iPad, reporting that it arrived broken and without a warranty card, and explaining that you need it for architectural work and client presentations. These details make the complaint relevant and give the company a reason to act. However, some parts are less fully addressed: the purchase details are vague, as you do not give an order date or reference, and the request for a replacement is implied rather than stated directly. The explanation of urgency is also difficult to follow in places, particularly the sentence about presenting designs. State the remedy clearly and develop the work-related urgency in a more direct, specific way.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a recognisable structure: you introduce the complaint, describe the delivery problem, explain why you need the item, and close politely. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” signal progression. This gives the response a coherent overall arrangement. However, the connectors are somewhat mechanical, and some sentences combine several ideas without clear links. For example, the sentence beginning “Not only with this effort” shifts from the complaint to the company’s sales and customer satisfaction, interrupting the main purpose. The final paragraph also moves abruptly from work needs to the closing. Use simpler transitions and keep each paragraph focused on one purpose.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for a complaint, including “recent purchase,” “warranty card,” “professional work,” and “customer satisfaction.” These choices show an attempt to use formal language, and the main problem is generally understandable. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “imperative curcial,” “improvise customer satisfaction,” “fisible,” and “looking for your revert.” Some spelling and word-form errors also reduce precision. In addition, “electronic gadget” is less direct than simply naming the iPad. Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than adding formal-sounding vocabulary; this will make the complaint clearer and more professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a sentence with “because” to explain urgency and a contrast using “whereas.” The overall meaning can usually be understood, but grammatical control is inconsistent. For example, “I usually use at my work” lacks an object, and “I want present my designs” is missing “to” before the verb. There are also article and sentence-boundary problems in “a issue” and “Dear Sir,” followed by an incomplete salutation. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, especially after full stops and around the semicolon. Build accuracy with shorter, complete sentences first, then add complex structures where the relationship between ideas is clear.
