You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear sir,

I hope this letter finds you and your business in a well position. I had ordered some clothes online and now received it. Although the price is quite satisfactory, I am not satisfied with the quality. I just want your attention on this matter to rectify where the error is.

I placed my order on 20th of July which include three trouser shirts and some undergarments. There is no missing item or size variation, but the only problem is the fabric quality is not according to what is mentioned on the platform. Even the price range is higher than the comparable ones that automatically spark debate on quality matter. Some of the pieces are torn and have slight variation in color.

I have a due wedding in coming week and have nothing to wear. I owned my promise to attend my cousin's ceremony. That's why I want a positive response from your company and need urgent replacement.

I hope your personal involvement will never disappoint me. I would be truly grateful to you.

Yours sincerely,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You provided details of the purchase (date and items), clearly described the quality issues (fabric quality, torn pieces, color variation), and explained the urgency regarding the upcoming wedding. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of complaint. To reach a higher band, ensure that the details are slightly more specific; for example, providing an order number would add a layer of realism to the task. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Although', 'Even', and 'That's why', to connect your ideas. However, the flow between sentences could be smoother. Some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the connection between the price point and the quality issue could be more tightly linked. The use of paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas from the initial complaint to the request for action is clear and easy to follow throughout the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'rectify where the error is' and 'size variation' are relevant to the context. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'in a well position' (should be 'in a good position') and 'due wedding' (should be 'upcoming wedding'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations related to customer service, such as 'defective items' or 'request a refund/replacement'. The vocabulary is sufficient for the task but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'now received it' (should be 'have now received them') and 'I owned my promise' (should be 'I made a promise'). Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and verb tense consistency. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of present perfect tense for recent actions would significantly improve your accuracy.
