Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I am Dhvani Tailor, writing to express my dissatisfaction about my recent purchase from your website, Myntra.

To start with, I ordered one light shaded Blue Jeans with 32 waist size on 22nd June 2026. I found that on your website and purchased it. I got delivery on time. However, I would like to complaint about the wrong size delivery. I got size 30 which is tighter for my waist measurements.

Additionally, The shade is also different from the image shown on the website. Therefore, I am not satisfied with the company's service and quality. I would like to request an urgent replacement for this Jeans. Moreover, next week, I have to attend one project meeting and on that day I have to wear light Blue Jeans, therefore, it becomes more crucial for me to get the replacement done as early as possible.

At last, I will be waiting for your response. kindly consider this complaint and take actions accordingly.

Yours faithfully,

Dhvani Tailor.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly identified the purchase details, described the issues with size and color, and provided a logical reason for needing an urgent replacement. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of complaint. To reach a higher band, ensure that the development of ideas is slightly more sophisticated; for instance, you could have specified the order number or the exact date of the upcoming meeting to add more weight to your request for urgency. Overall, the task is fully addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You used some cohesive devices such as 'To start with,' 'Additionally,' and 'Moreover' to connect your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the flow between sentences feels more natural rather than relying on a list-like structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to communicate your message effectively. Phrases like 'express my dissatisfaction' and 'crucial for me' are well-chosen. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'tighter for my waist measurements' (should be 'too tight for my waist') and 'take actions accordingly' (should be 'take action'). Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise terms for clothing and customer service interactions would help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I would like to complaint' (should be 'complain'), 'one light shaded Blue Jeans' (should be 'a pair of light-blue jeans'), and 'on that day I have to wear' (should be 'on which I have to wear'). Punctuation is generally correct, but there are minor issues with capitalization and article usage. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and noun-phrase construction will improve your accuracy.
