Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing this letter in order to request for replacement of clothing that I bought from your online store.
Commencing with the details, a week ago I order coat L size from your store which is in black colour. Everything is good even I like the quality of product. However, the issue is that you sent the wrong colour and size of the coat. Due to this I have to request for the refund or replacement. For my business meeting I order black coat, but I received the it in yellow colour. I usually do shopping from your store but this time its dissatisfied experience occurred with me.
Moving further, I would be grateful if you replaced it with in a week because our meeting will be on next weekend so please replaced it as soon as possible you can. The dress code is black in meeting. I have only one blazer that I ordered which is in black. So please consider my request and replace it. The pick up address is 876 Scott rd, bray avenue.
Thank you for your time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: providing purchase details, describing the problem, and explaining the urgency. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the need for a black coat for the meeting. To improve, ensure that the details provided are concise and avoid circular explanations. You successfully established the purpose of the letter from the beginning, and the reader is left in no doubt about what you require from the company.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Due to this', and 'Moving further' to connect your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. For example, 'Commencing with the details' is a bit unnatural in a letter format. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'I received the it in yellow colour'. Improving the flow between sentences by using a wider variety of linking words would enhance the overall readability.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'dissatisfied experience' and 'replacement'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'I order coat L size' (should be 'I ordered a size L coat') and 'its dissatisfied experience occurred with me'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring that your word forms are accurate in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and articles. For instance, 'I order coat' should be 'I ordered a coat', and 'please replaced it' should be 'please replace it'. There are also minor punctuation and capitalization issues. While these errors are frequent, they rarely cause confusion for the reader. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage, especially when describing past events versus future requirements.
