Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt: it provides details of the purchase, describes the problem with the material quality, and explains the urgency due to an upcoming event. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of complaint. However, the development of ideas is slightly limited, and the explanation regarding the replacement process is somewhat confusingly phrased, which slightly hinders the clarity of the request. Despite this, the purpose of the letter is clear, and the reader understands the situation and the desired outcome.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the transition 'Although I am trying to place another order can also delevering'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved with more varied linking words. Overall, the structure is sufficient to convey the message effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are several errors in word choice and form, such as 'purchased' instead of 'purchase', 'descibed' (spelling), and 'soultion' (spelling). The range is somewhat limited, relying on basic descriptors. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequent minor errors and the lack of more sophisticated or precise vocabulary prevent a higher score. The student successfully communicates the core message, but the lexical control is inconsistent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'recent the purchased I made', 'this purchased make me disappointing', and 'it will taking a while'. These errors, while noticeable, do not completely impede communication. The control over verb tenses and word order is inconsistent. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct formation of passive and continuous verb structures.
