Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am fond of shopping online as considered more convienient and reliable source. Last month i had couple of occasions and decided to buy a piece of clothing online because of shortage of time.
The thing which i bought is puffer jacket with lailored styled zip on it which are your exclusives. While shopping is was shown as pure black colour and of three sizes in the preview section with one pocket inside. At first look i found it very classy and well suited with the sizes. I ordered the medium size with black colour. The price was 98.76 $ after taxes which i paid at moment.
According to policy it should have arrived within 2-5 business days but unfortunately it took more than 10 days to arrive. After unboxing i found the same jacket with blue colour with different size than i ordered. I got very dissapointed with the purchase. I repack it right away and filled the return form available on your website. I have never faced such inconvience while shopping online.
Hope you will look after with it and improve the glitches.
Yours faithfully,
Navdeep

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully gave details of the purchase, such as the item being a puffer jacket, the price of 98.76 dollars, and the date of purchase. You clearly described the problem by explaining that the jacket arrived in the wrong color and size, and took longer than expected. Finally, you explained why you need a replacement urgently by mentioning that you originally bought it because you had a couple of occasions coming up and faced a shortage of time. However, some ideas could have been extended further, and the opening paragraph strays slightly into general statements about online shopping rather than focusing directly on your specific situation. This puts your task achievement performance at a solid Band 6 level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a logical flow from the introduction of the purchase to the description of the problem and the concluding request. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different points, such as the product details, the shipping delay and wrong item, and the final sign-off. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, expressions like 'The thing which i bought' and 'according to policy it should have arrived' lack smooth transitional links. Additionally, pronouns like 'it' in 'Hope you will look after with it' create slight ambiguity in referencing. These minor issues align the text with a Band 6 score for coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to successfully convey your message about the incorrect order. You make good attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'exclusive', 'preview section', and 'unboxing'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors, including 'convienient' instead of convenient, 'i' instead of 'I', 'lailored' instead of tailored, 'dissapointed' instead of disappointed, and 'inconvience' instead of inconvenience. Furthermore, collocations like 'look after with it' are unnatural. These vocabulary limitations and frequent spelling slips mean that lexical resource is best placed at Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures throughout the letter, such as 'While shopping is was shown as pure black colour...' and 'According to policy it should have arrived within 2-5 business days...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation mistakes that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include missing articles ('is was shown as pure black colour'), incorrect prepositions or verbs ('paid at moment', 'look after with it'), and lower-case 'i' pronouns. Complex sentence attempts also tend to contain errors. Because errors persist and affect accuracy while only occasionally impeding overall communication, a Band 5.5 is appropriate for grammatical range and accuracy.
