Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response responds to the task only minimally. While the writer attempts to touch upon the bullet points by mentioning a purchase consisting of a 'shirt-t' and a 'jense', describing the bad fabric quality and incorrect sizing, and requesting a resolution, the execution is extremely limited. The ideas are repetitive and underdeveloped, focusing heavily on brand loyalty and declining ratings rather than clearly and directly providing the specific purchase details and the urgent need for a replacement as requested by the prompt. The overall purpose of the letter is somewhat obscured by the lack of clear, relevant development for each required point.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
Information and ideas are not arranged coherently. The entire response is written as a single, massive run-on sentence block without proper paragraphing or standard letter formatting, starting directly with lowercase letters. There is an absence of logical progression, and cohesive devices are either missing or misused, such as the excessive and repetitive use of 'so' and 'and' to string clauses together. Reference words are unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information or discern distinct arguments.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, employing simple words like 'bad', 'order', and 'cloth'. There are frequent errors in word choice, spelling, and word form, such as 'reating' for rating, 'jense' for jeans, and 'shirt-t' for t-shirt. These lexical errors and the extremely limited range strain the reader and restrict the communication of ideas, meaning the vocabulary remains at a rudimentary level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting primarily of heavily convoluted, run-on simple sentences linked by conjunctions rather than controlled complex structures. Errors are frequent and often distort meaning, including severe issues with verb tenses ('i order', 'product get', 'i get is not same'), lack of capitalization and punctuation, and incorrect grammatical patterns. These persistent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader throughout the text.
