Student answer (Band 6.5)

In todays world some people think that socializing with the colleagues during evenings and weekends are good idea but on contrary some people belive that its important to keep working life completely seperate from social life. We will discuss the both factors and illustrate advantagous and disadvantagous of the idea in this essay.

Firstly, socialising with the colleagues during evenings and weekends has some advantagous. It help to understand people better and increase the trust on each other which help people to share the ideas and problems openly without the fear of judgment. It makes the work envionment more friendly and increase the productivity. It also help the colleagues to understand the prolems of the people around him and can help when they needed. For example if one persons knows that his colleagues mother is in the hospital due to which his mind is not focused on work, he can help him and can talk to him about the situation.

Conversly, some people belive that its important to keep working life completely seperate because socialising and friendships effect work enviorment and productivity of the work. For example if you are a supervisor of the project and all the colleagues are your friends than you can't pressurise them to complete work on time . Other than that socialising can increase liking and disliking between the boys and girls on work place which can lead to jealousy. Which can directly of indirectly effect on working enviroment.

In my openion it should be allowed to socialise with colleagues during evenings and weekends but it should have the boundries and limits which will prevent them to becoming close friends or lover to avoid future problems at work place. They should met at these getherings as a colleagues .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact on productivity and the potential for workplace jealousy. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the point about 'jealousy' is introduced but not fully explored in terms of its long-term impact on professional dynamics. The position is consistent throughout, and the conclusion provides a balanced view. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced examples and extend your arguments with deeper analysis rather than relying on brief illustrations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Conversly', and 'In my openion', though some are misspelled or used in a slightly mechanical way. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the transition between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the jump from discussing productivity to the specific example of a supervisor is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used accurately will help improve the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'productivity', 'supervisor', and 'work environment'. However, there are several spelling errors ('advantagous', 'disadvantagous', 'envionment', 'getherings') and some awkward phrasing, such as 'liking and disliking between the boys and girls'. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common academic words and try to incorporate more precise collocations. For example, instead of 'increase the trust', 'foster mutual trust' would be more sophisticated and natural in an academic context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('socialising... are good idea', 'It help to understand', 'colleagues... is your friends') and articles ('the colleagues', 'a work place'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and incorrect comma usage. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and proofreading for punctuation will significantly improve your score.
