Student answer (Band 6.5)

In my view point colleagues play an essential role in everyone's life as they are the people we spent most of our time. Some people believe that it is nice to have a hangout with them on weekend while others disagree. In this essay i will discuss both views along with my own opinion.

To begin with, being socialize with co-workers on weekend or during evenings is a good idea as you get some personal time to talk to them after work . Because of busy work schedule people usually don't have enough time to talk to their colleagues. So by meeting them after work hours gave them a chance to learn more about their viewpoint. For example, I work in a day care and i don't usually have time to talk to my co-workers but meeting them on weekends gave me more idea of their preferences or hobbies which is hard to know at work .

However, everyone have their private life which sometime they do not like to share with others as their they believe their professional life is totally sap rated from work. A survey conducted by Harbor university in 2025, showed that more then 80% people love to keep their personal and professional life sap rated because of privacy.

In my view point, it totally depends on what kind of relation you have with your coworker. If your relation i really nice and include friendship then you can meet your colleagues outside work but they shouldn't disclose any work related information.

In conclusion, people could meet their coworkers if they want nut it should not be pressure for one . Also, they should make sure that they don't share any work information.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of bonding versus the need for privacy. However, the development is somewhat limited; the arguments are brief and could benefit from more detailed explanation or deeper analysis. For instance, the example regarding the daycare job is a good start but lacks depth. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To improve, focus on expanding the supporting arguments with more nuanced reasoning to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For example, the transition 'To begin with' and 'However' are standard, but there is a lack of more sophisticated linking words or varied referencing to connect sentences more fluidly. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be strengthened by using a wider variety of cohesive markers to improve the flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'preferences' and 'professional life', but the range is somewhat limited. There are also several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'sap rated' instead of 'separated' and 'nut' instead of 'not'. These errors do not significantly impede communication, but they do indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of precise, topic-specific vocabulary to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('everyone have their private life') and incorrect verb tenses ('they are the people we spent most of our time'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency and accuracy of the writing. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and sentence construction will help improve the score.
