Student answer (Band 6.0)

Socialization is considered to be a crucial part of everyone's life therefore a school of thoughts contend that weekends are the best time for this activity with their co-workers. However, the opponents of the view believe that the work life must be kept apart from social life. I strongly stand by the first set of opinion owing to several reasons that would be demonstrated further.

On the first hand side, individuals can develop a strong bond among their team members if they spend quality time on weekends. Moreover, sharing problems that stops them to be more productive at workplace can be resolved. For example, the relationship of an employee with an employer where they get together during Saturdays and Sundays are found to be more beneficial in order to discuss the weaknesses.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 143 words. Furthermore, the essay is incomplete, as the second body paragraph cuts off mid-sentence. While you have identified both sides of the argument and stated a clear position, the lack of development and the unfinished nature of the response mean that the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must ensure you complete all parts of the prompt and provide sufficient supporting details for each argument to meet the minimum length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay uses some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand side' to signal transitions. However, the abrupt ending of the text severely disrupts the logical flow and overall structure. Paragraphing is attempted, but the incomplete nature of the second paragraph makes it difficult to assess the full organizational structure. To achieve a higher score, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that ideas are linked smoothly throughout the entire essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'crucial', 'contend', and 'productive'. There are some minor collocation issues, such as 'a school of thoughts' (should be 'a school of thought') and 'On the first hand side' (which is non-standard; 'On the one hand' is the correct idiom). The vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'problems that stops them' (subject-verb agreement: 'problems that stop them') and 'the first set of opinion' (should be 'the first opinion'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall accuracy. You should focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that idiomatic expressions are used correctly.
