Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 182 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the essay is cut off mid-sentence at the end. While you address both sides of the argument and provide a clear personal position, the ideas are under-developed due to the lack of length. To improve, you must ensure you fully expand on your points with specific examples and complete your conclusion. The current brevity prevents a full exploration of the topic, which is essential for higher band scores.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay uses some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'Moreover', which help to signal the structure. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is unfinished, which disrupts the overall flow. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting arguments that lead logically to a conclusion. The current mechanical use of transitions needs to be more fluid.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an attempt to use a range of vocabulary, such as 'social cohesion', 'dilemmas', and 'dignify'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'exhale your inner flaws' (likely meaning 'vent' or 'express') and 'critically have opponent perception'. Some phrases are unclear, which occasionally impedes the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—and ensure you are using vocabulary in the correct context rather than relying on complex-sounding but misused terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the later one have' (subject-verb agreement) and 'ultimately give a huge landmark' (incorrect verb usage). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence structure is often clunky. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. Try to vary your sentence length and ensure that your complex sentences are grammatically sound. The unfinished final sentence also negatively impacts the overall grammatical control of the piece.
