Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is a growing debate on this topic that whether people should spend their weekends and evenings with the work colleagues or they should keep their personal and professional life separate. We will discuss this in upcoming paragraphs.
On the one hand, many people consider to spend their weekends and evenings with their work mates, as this helps to grow their bonds stronger. As a result, they enjoy working more with each other. They can share their problems and help each other in their difficult phase. Moreover, this makes the atmosphere better of the workplace.
While on the other hand, there is a certain proportion of the individuals, who thinks that we should totally keep our personal or social life away from professional life. In their opinion, we should spend our free time with our families and friends. It is also important to give them adequate time without involving our work duties. Furthermore, it is also an argument that there are some problems you have in your personal life, which you don’t want to bring in your work. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the work-ethics and curriculum, so that our both lives run smoothly.
In my opinion, we should balance both the lives equally. They have their own advantages and disadvantages, so we need to somehow manage both the things. In addition, not every week but we can give some time to our colleagues after work, whereas family should be at the priority.
In conclusion, i will say that we have to make a balance approach for this. Giving every weekend and evenings to work colleagues will be unfair to the family, so we have to make the family priority and then consider about the work mates.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of team bonding versus the necessity of work-life balance. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument about 'work-ethics and curriculum' is slightly unclear and could have been expanded with more specific examples or deeper reasoning. The position is consistent throughout, but the depth of analysis is limited, which prevents it from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure that each supporting point is fully explained with concrete examples rather than just stated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. The use of cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'While on the other hand', and 'In conclusion' helps guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally slightly awkward, such as in the phrase 'so that our both lives run smoothly'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. To improve, try to vary the cohesive devices used and ensure that the flow between sentences is more natural and less reliant on standard formulaic connectors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'proportion of the individuals' and 'adequate time'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'maintain the work-ethics and curriculum' (curriculum is not the right word here; 'boundaries' or 'standards' would be better) and 'make a balance approach'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing. Expanding the range of vocabulary to include more precise collocations would help elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'It is a growing debate on this topic that whether...' (incorrect structure), 'consider to spend' (should be 'consider spending'), and 'the atmosphere better of the workplace' (awkward word order). Punctuation is generally fine, but there are minor slips throughout. The writer shows an attempt at complex structures, but the control over these is inconsistent. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of gerunds and infinitives after specific verbs.
