Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many pupils think that socialise with work colleagues is beneficial, while other think that keep working life and personal life different from each other. This essay will discuss both viewpoints and my opinion in upcoming paragraphs.

On the one hand, spending time with colleagues during evening and weekends improve the teamwork and coordination. It increase the emotional bond between them. When they meet after the office hours their communication will be improved which will be help them to take any decision in the office and they will enjoy to work together. For example, some companies are planning for team dinner and weekend outing so it can improve their employee's relationships.

On the other hand, many people believe that personal and professional life should be separate. If they spend more time with their work people then, their family relation will be suffer. They need spend their weekends or free time with their family. If people not balanced their both life the it bring the stress for them. If they spend too much time with their colleagues then unnecessary stress and burden they can bring. which effect their mental health.

In my opinion, balance in between both personal and professional life is essential but giving to much time to one life is create the stress in the life. With colleagues we improve the bonding, communication, teamwork or coordination which is helpful for our work life. In personal life we have to give time to our family which give us a real happiness or joy.

To sum up, socialise with colleagues raise the workplace relations and improve the cooperation, keeping professional life separate form the personal life is also important.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both viewpoints and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of team bonding versus the necessity of work-life balance. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding stress is mentioned but not fully explored with specific examples or deeper analysis. The position is consistent throughout, but the essay would benefit from more detailed explanations to move beyond general statements. Overall, it meets the requirements of the task well enough for this level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To sum up', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'If they spend more time with their work people then, their family relation will be suffer.' The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal cohesion within sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors, which makes the flow feel slightly disjointed at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'coordination', 'professional life', and 'workplace relations'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'family relation will be suffer' instead of 'family relationships will suffer' and 'give to much time' instead of 'devote too much time'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('it increase', 'it bring the stress') and article usage. Some sentences are structurally incomplete or awkward, such as 'If people not balanced their both life the it bring the stress for them.' While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors limits the score. To improve, the student should focus on basic sentence construction and ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects.
