Student answer (Band 6.5)

Few individuals believe that hanging up in evening with working friends is excellent way to enjoy life whereas, others think that everybody should keep their personal and professional life separate. I personally believe that it is very crucial to keep professional life distanced from personal to minimize work conflict. However, sometimes it is better way to improve relationship with co workers.

To begin with, outing with colleagues is unforgettable experience to enjoy once life as it will improve relationship with co workers as well as it would promote team work. To add to it, by knowing each others perspectives and thoughts will be beneficial for promoting co ordination at work and strengthen bond between the as a consequence, it will directly reduce job related conflicts.

In Contrast, quite a few people believe having outings and trip with employees of same firm would create some conflict such as, there are higher chances of one's personal life secrets will revealed in front of everyone. Moreover, it will hinder one's personal life which they never wanted to release with others because of this it may create confrontations between them which lead to stressful environment. Furthermore, if person have some issues at work may again put them in pressure at outside of company premises as well.

In conclusion, it is great way to explore new places and spending quality time with work friends because it will creates nostalgic memories of life and improve their bonding. Nevertheless, sometimes it may creates clash between them and increase the chance of exposing other's personal life in organization. Therefore, I think both approach has few benefits but it should be taken in limits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of team bonding versus the risks of blurring professional boundaries. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'job related conflicts' is mentioned but not fully explored with a concrete example. The position is consistent throughout, although the conclusion slightly contradicts the introduction by suggesting a middle ground that was not fully articulated in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure that each argument is supported by a specific, illustrative example.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'In Contrast', and 'Furthermore', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To add to it' and 'because of this it may create'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'strengthen bond between the', where the noun is missing. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'professional life', 'co-ordination', and 'confrontations'. However, there are several instances of word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'hanging up in evening' (should be 'hanging out'), 'unforgettable experience to enjoy once life' (should be 'one's life'), and 'release with others' (should be 'share'). Spelling errors like 'co ordination' and 'creates' (when it should be 'create') also occur. Expanding the range of vocabulary and focusing on accurate collocations would improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('it will creates', 'both approach has') and article usage ('in front of everyone', 'at outside of company'). There are also issues with possessive forms ('one's personal life') and missing words. While the writer attempts complex sentences, the control over these structures is inconsistent. To improve, the student should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with grammatical precision.
