Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding the risks of socialising is well-supported with the point about office politics and rumours. Conversely, the argument in favour of socialising is slightly less developed, and the conclusion is incomplete, which impacts the overall task response. The position is consistent throughout, but the lack of a finished conclusion prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure that all paragraphs are fully developed and that the essay reaches a natural, complete conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', and 'Additionally' are used to link ideas. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or awkward, such as the sentence fragment 'Which allows them to complete their task better...'. Referencing is generally clear, but the abrupt ending of the essay significantly disrupts the coherence of the final section. Improving the transition between sentences and ensuring a complete, cohesive conclusion would enhance the overall structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations, such as 'restrict one’s ability' and 'multinational companies'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'extreme passionate professional' instead of 'extremely passionate professionals' and 'spreads rumours of their college' instead of 'colleague'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a limited range of precise vocabulary. Expanding your range of synonyms and focusing on correct word forms will help improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Few people feels', 'some introverts declines', 'many multinational companies organizes') and article usage errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several sentence fragments and misplaced commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors is high. To reach a higher band, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately without fragments.
