Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 133 words. Because the essay is significantly under-length, it is impossible to fully develop the ideas required by the prompt. While the student attempts to address both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, the discussion is extremely superficial and lacks the necessary supporting evidence or examples. The ideas are repetitive and under-developed, preventing a clear exploration of the topic. To improve, the student must expand on their points with specific examples and ensure the essay meets the length requirement to allow for a comprehensive response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization by using 'First' to begin a paragraph, but the overall structure is severely hampered by the lack of content. Paragraphing is ineffective, with a large amount of empty space and a very short, underdeveloped second paragraph. Cohesive devices are either absent or used incorrectly, such as the awkward use of 'Whereas' and 'While' at the start of sentences. The progression of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. More effort is needed to link sentences and paragraphs using a variety of cohesive devices to create a smooth flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on simple words like 'good', 'idea', and 'people'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'Some individuals opinion' instead of 'Some individuals are of the opinion' and 'shares anything' instead of 'share anything'. The range of vocabulary is limited, which restricts the ability to express complex ideas clearly. To improve, the student should focus on learning collocations related to professional and social life and attempt to use a wider range of synonyms to avoid repetition and improve the precision of their writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. Examples include 'Other public think' (incorrect noun usage), 'they wants to spending' (subject-verb agreement and verb form errors), and 'this is idea good' (incorrect word order). The sentence structures are mostly simple and contain consistent errors in tense and agreement. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, which limits the grammatical range. To improve, the student needs to focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading for these fundamental errors is essential.
