Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, few people believe that it is good idea to get in touch with coworkers during weekends. While, others say's that keeping work life and social separate is a good idea. I will discuss both the views and give my own opinion.

On the one hand, few people believe that it is good idea to socialise with work colleagues during evenings on weekends. From my view, It is a good idea to hanging out with your coworker. Because, you know every person and also you have a good bond with them so you can share every thing and also they can help you at work or gives you a good ideas to grow up in your future. For example, if you have a good bonding with your coworker and if that guy has been working at the same place so that guy can tell you everything about the work and how to grow up in hard time.

On the other hand, some people thing that keeping work life completely separate from social life is best option. However, I strongly believe that to keep working life separate is best. For example, many people don't like to share everything with their coworkers at work they are not that much friendly and also they believe that they came do their work and leave for home. In addition, keeping work life separate is also good to maintain your respect because once you share everything at work they will behind you.

In conclusion, By thinking of some to keep working life separate is a good idea. On my view, I would say that if someone is keeping that thing like both life separates is a good standard for him.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument for socializing focuses primarily on 'bonding' and 'growth,' while the argument for separation focuses on 'privacy' and 'respect.' The conclusion is particularly weak and lacks clarity, as it contradicts the earlier stance taken in the body paragraphs. The position is somewhat inconsistent, as you argue for socializing in the second paragraph but then argue for separation in the third, making your final opinion difficult to follow. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear, distinct main idea and that your conclusion reflects the arguments presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'From my view' and 'By thinking of some' are used incorrectly, which disrupts the flow of ideas. Additionally, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt. While there is a logical progression in terms of discussing both sides, the internal cohesion within paragraphs is weak due to repetitive sentence structures and a lack of varied linking words. Improving the use of transition signals such as 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' or 'on the contrary' would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple phrases like 'good idea,' 'good bonding,' and 'good standard.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'they will behind you' (which is unclear) and 'they came do their work' (likely a typo for 'come to'). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary that is more precise and appropriate for an academic context. Avoid repeating the same adjectives and try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms to express your ideas more clearly and effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('others say's'), incorrect verb forms ('is a good idea to hanging out'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors occur frequently enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects and that infinitives and gerunds are used correctly after 'it is' or 'it is a good idea to'.
