Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is argued that many individuals advocate meeting co-workers on weekends or in the free time is a good thing to do while others favor that work life should not be mixed up with the personal life. I personally support with the notion of separate work and personal life. I will be discussing both the viewpoints in this essay.

In the first place, it is beneficial for many workers if they meet up in nonworking hours to get socialize with each others. One major benefit to this is to know every job colleagues in a better way. To illustrate it, if employees working in the same company plan to socialize off duty, then they could learn about the mindset and thoughts of their co-workers deeply and even in a better way. For example, corporate colleagues mostly seen to spend time together to put their ideas in front of each others. As an outcome, during meetings or project discussions they could create friendly environment.

On the contrary, so many workers like to keep their personal life private from the professional life. To explain it, employees always think twice before sharing their family or personal interest in the fear of getting judged by other employees. For Instance, in India, many small company employees keep secrets about their private life because they think that, if they share anything personal, then there are chances to take an advantage and insult them at work place. therefore, they do not socialize easily with their colleagues.

To summarize the above narratives, I personally advocate that people should keep their personal life more private in order to protect their value and position at work place. However, being socialize with co-workers could give opportunities to know each other in a better way.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both viewpoints and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefit of building rapport versus the fear of being judged. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the example regarding India is a bit general and could have been more effectively linked to the broader argument. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion successfully summarizes the main points while reiterating the writer's stance. To reach a higher band, the arguments could be expanded with more nuanced analysis rather than relying on brief explanations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In the first place', 'On the contrary', and 'To summarize', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'every job colleagues' and 'each others', which occasionally disrupt the flow. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the connection between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother to achieve a more natural, sophisticated flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific language like 'professional life', 'corporate colleagues', and 'mindset'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices or incorrect collocations, such as 'get socialize with each others' (should be 'socialize with each other') and 'being socialize' (should be 'socializing'). The range is sufficient for a 6.0, but the lack of more precise or sophisticated vocabulary prevents a higher score. Improving collocations would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and articles, such as 'advocate meeting' (should be 'advocate that meeting'), 'every job colleagues', and 'the fear of getting judged'. Punctuation is generally functional, though there are minor errors like the capitalization of 'Instance' and 'therefore' mid-sentence. The errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score. More attention to subject-verb agreement and prepositional usage is needed.
