Student answer (Band 6.0)

Communication is the best way to connect with people even from the far. Therefore, it is a highly debatable issue among people, whether it is a good idea that socialising in the evening and weekends with coworkers or people should completely separate work life from social life. However, I believe both aspects are important and people can do both things.

To begin with, people tend to spend time with their colleagues are more comfortable and confident in the workplace because people, builds a friendship bond with their coworkers through meeting them on the daily basis. As a result, individuals can reduce their workload and stress which they usually face while working with the strangers. Moreover, not only can the people develop their skills with the help of their peers, but also the firm can also grow, because how much time people utilised with their peers as much they can find out each others strengths and weakness and if they have any weakness their coworkers may be help them to develop the skill, it can only happen when there is a good bond between the workmates and it will only comes when they will meet each other on daily basis.

Despite having aforementioned reason, there are many researches, which says people should separate their social life and work life because when people mixed them, they would stuck in the middle and due to this, their both growths social as well as work related could be effected and which leads to failures.

In conclusion, based on the aforementioned reasoning, I still affirm that, people can do both according to their own convenience, if there is no any problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The second paragraph attempts to explain the benefits of socialising with colleagues, but the reasoning is repetitive and slightly disjointed. The third paragraph, which discusses the opposing view, is underdeveloped and lacks specific examples or a deeper exploration of why keeping work and life separate is beneficial. While the prompt is addressed, the arguments would benefit from more depth and clearer logical progression to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', but some transitions are mechanical or slightly misused, such as 'Despite having aforementioned reason'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the third paragraph where the connection between the ideas is weak. The flow of the argument is generally coherent, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved to ensure a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'people', 'work', and 'life'. Phrases such as 'stuck in the middle' and 'do both things' are somewhat informal or imprecise. While the meaning is generally clear, there is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations. To improve, you should focus on using more varied synonyms and academic vocabulary to express your ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'people, builds a friendship' (subject-verb agreement), 'how much time people utilised... as much they can find out' (awkward structure), and 'if they have any weakness their coworkers may be help them' (incorrect modal usage). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
