Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people believe that spending more time with colleagues is the best idea on the holidays, where as other argue that it is crucial to share your free time with families rather than colleagues. This essay will discuss both the view before my opinion.

On the one hand, there are a number of reasons why is it necessary to hand out with friends from the work. First of all, in order to enhance and make strong bond with coworkers, it is the best way to go outside with them for social activities like watching movie and eating food. This is also helps to introduce each other families. Moreover, a good bond with peers assist you to increase your productivity at workplace by helping each other in difficult task.

On the other hand, it is better to keep distance between work and personal life as it may creates some problems. To explain this, sometimes you can loose attention from your children and wife and they may not share the problems they are facing currently because you spend less time with them. Secondly, employee can feel stressful life as they will not able to maintain work and personal life by spending more time with workmates.

In conclusion, although it helps employee to make strong relation with coworkers and increase productivity, I also believe that is better to keep distance between work and social life it may be ruin people's personal because workers can get lost attention from their families and unaware about their difficulties.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding productivity is mentioned but not fully explained with a concrete example. The points regarding family life are relevant but could be expanded to show a deeper understanding of the trade-offs involved. While the task is addressed, the supporting arguments remain at a surface level, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure that each main point is supported by a specific, well-developed example or a more detailed explanation of the underlying logic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'This is also helps to introduce each other families'. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, and the transition between ideas could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more variety and precision to achieve a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'hand out with friends' (should be 'hang out'), 'make strong bond' (should be 'build a strong bond'), and 'loose attention' (should be 'lose attention'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic terms. To improve, the student should focus on learning more precise collocations and academic phrases that are appropriate for a formal discussion essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('it may creates', 'employee can feel'), article usage, and word forms ('stressful life'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'This is also helps to introduce each other families'. These errors occur frequently enough to cause some minor distraction for the reader, although they do not completely impede communication. Increasing the accuracy of basic grammatical structures and proofreading for common errors would significantly improve the score.
