Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding the negative impact of socializing is slightly confused, as it conflates socializing after hours with distractions during work hours. While the prompt asks about socializing in the evenings and weekends, the student focuses on workplace distractions, which is a slight shift in focus. To reach a higher band, the student should ensure that the supporting arguments directly address the specific context of the prompt (evenings and weekends) rather than general workplace behavior.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Discussing the former view', 'However', and 'To conclude'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Before my opinion, both the viewpoints would be discussed'. Additionally, there are issues with referencing and sentence-level flow, such as the transition between the idea of socializing and the mention of CCTV cameras. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word formation and collocation that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'being socialise' (should be 'socializing'), 'importent' (spelling), 'reputative' (should be 'reputable'), and 'performmce' (spelling). While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'harmonious environment' and 'credibility', the persistent spelling and word-choice errors limit the score. To improve, the student should focus on accurate word forms and proofreading for common spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('A group of individual believe'), incorrect verb forms ('it is essential that keep separate'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and basic grammatical rules would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
