Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is an on going debate regarding a social life. A group of people believe that they want to socialise with professional friends. While, others argue that working life totally different from social life. I think it is depend on the person to person choice but having friends who are chill with you and working in the same industry is very rare possible. Therefore, I say professional work have to some distance with personal enjoyment and having both in balance are maintain both mental and physical health.

In the former view people want to enjoy with their job partners have many advantages. The most important reason is that they build good example for other people. Because in the rare case we found luck like that we have real life best friend and who is working in same industry and having everything same on the weekend they chill together and set goal for their and achieve many benefits. For example, having a good bond in industry have reduce mental stress as they discuss without getting stress. In addition, they can share knowledge, experience and help each other in normal life and working life too.

On the contrary, other people argue that, they want to enjoy both life individually. The reason behind is that sometime people have a lot of stress about work and they do not want spoil their best memory only talking and thinking about work. So, having a friend who chill with you but do not talk about work in the enjoyment life. For instance, if we have friend who are manager is our industry and he/she also a share social life with you. Consequently, employer have to respect and listen to his/her manager so employers do not enjoy in front of the manager.

To conclude and offer my position, there are convincing arguments both for and against of sharing social life with work people or having separate both life. However, I certainly favour the latter opinion of having different life as everyone do not comfortable with this situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While the first body paragraph attempts to explain the benefits of socializing with colleagues, the reasoning is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'set goal for their and achieve many benefits'. The second body paragraph regarding the separation of work and life is more coherent but suffers from some logical gaps, particularly in the example involving the manager. The position is maintained throughout, but the depth of analysis is limited, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In the former view', 'On the contrary', and 'In addition', but they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly, such as the awkward transition 'While, others argue'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'they' and 'their', which sometimes lack a clear antecedent. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints, which helps the reader follow the overall argument despite the occasional lapses in flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'professional friends', 'chill with you', and 'enjoyment life'. The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but the phrasing often feels unnatural or imprecise. While the meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary and the frequent reliance on simple, repetitive terms like 'good' and 'enjoy' restrict the score. More precise terminology related to professional boundaries and workplace dynamics would improve the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'professional work have to some distance'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'having both in balance are maintain both mental and physical health'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence boundaries and comma usage. While the errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to be noticeable throughout the text, indicating a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic sentence mechanics.
