Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people believe that employees should socialize with their colleagues on a regular basis in the evenings and on weekends. However, others think that they should keep their work separate form personal life. Personally, I believe that it is useful for workers by keeping their life separate from work.
On the first hand, spending time with colleagues in the evening and on weekend can lead to improve their communication between each other, better connection with other employees, learn skills from one another. Moreover, employees can perform their tasks better. For instance, it is more likely to make them more perseverance, dedicated and improve their skills such as team leadership, better communication and interpersonal skills.
On the other hand, employees have the only time on weekends to spend with their friends and family members to strengthen their bond with them. If they spend this time with colleagues, they will think that they still are on their work. They will feel more tired and feel unlikely to perform their tasks better.
In my opinion, keeping personal life separate from work better option to save themselves from conflicts such as office politics and unnecessary gossips. They can do their work more efficiently without involving in these kinds of office groups. They can still build better ties with their fellow staff. for example, someone once said that not everyone on our workplace is our friend so just do your work and go home.
To conclude it, though employees can improve their relation by spending more time off work with each other, but it is advisable to keep life separate from work.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The position is consistent throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the arguments regarding 'office politics' and 'team leadership' are mentioned but not fully explored with detailed examples or logical depth. The essay would benefit from more substantial elaboration on why exactly socializing might lead to better performance or why it specifically causes conflict. While the ideas are relevant, they remain at a surface level, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the first hand', 'Moreover', and 'In my opinion', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or non-standard (e.g., 'On the first hand' should be 'On the one hand'). The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother. Referencing is mostly clear, though the concluding sentence is slightly disjointed due to the use of 'though' and 'but' in the same clause, which creates a minor structural error in cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at using topic-specific vocabulary like 'interpersonal skills', 'office politics', and 'efficiently'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'lead to improve their communication' (should be 'lead to improved communication') and 'feel unlikely to perform their tasks better'. The range is sufficient for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands, as the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and basic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'keep their work separate form personal life' (spelling error 'form' instead of 'from'), 'lead to improve' (incorrect verb form), and 'keeping personal life separate from work better option' (missing verb 'is'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure in the conclusion is grammatically flawed. The control of grammar is inconsistent, which is characteristic of a band 6 performance.
