Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 72 words. Consequently, the task is not fully addressed. While you mention both views briefly, the ideas are severely underdeveloped and lack the necessary supporting arguments or examples required for a Task 2 essay. To improve, you must expand each point into a full paragraph, providing clear reasons and specific examples to support your position. The current response functions more like an introductory paragraph than a complete essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response is too short to demonstrate effective paragraphing or a logical progression of ideas. While there is a basic attempt to use cohesive devices like 'However' and 'Furthermore', the lack of structure makes it difficult to follow a coherent argument. To achieve a higher band, you need to organize your essay into clear paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs (one for each view), and a conclusion. Using a wider range of linking words such as 'consequently', 'in addition', and 'on the other hand' will help improve the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'good option' and 'professional life'. There is no evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. To improve, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'work-life balance', 'collegiality', or 'professional boundaries'. Expanding your vocabulary will allow you to express your ideas with more nuance and sophistication, which is essential for higher band scores.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammar is generally simple, and there are noticeable errors, such as the sentence fragment 'Because we can manage a professional life with our colleagues' and the missing 'to' in 'good option keep'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, you need to incorporate a mix of complex and compound sentences. Focus on using subordinating conjunctions (e.g., 'although', 'since', 'whereas') to connect your ideas more effectively and improve the overall grammatical complexity.
