Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of why socialising with colleagues improves interpersonal relationships is brief, and the example provided regarding 'pupils' (likely meant to be 'employees') is slightly confusing. The arguments are relevant, but they lack depth and specific, well-explained examples to reach a higher band. To improve, ensure that each point is fully extended with clear, logical reasoning and more precise real-world examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is unclear, such as the use of 'there' instead of 'their' and the awkward phrasing in the final sentence. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the transition between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall progression of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and contains several errors in word choice and form. For instance, 'counter argue of people' is non-standard, and 'get a closure' is an incorrect collocation. There are also frequent spelling errors, such as 'out side' (outside) and 'there' (their). While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'interpersonal relationships' and 'professional bond', the range is limited, and the errors occasionally distract from the clarity of the message.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people wants', 'it encourage worker's') and incorrect word forms (e.g., 'to friends' instead of 'to be friends'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement and proofreading for common grammatical slips.
