Student answer (Band 6.0)

few individuals think that in order to socialize with our co-workers people have to spend their free time on weekends. However, others argue that humans have to make a gap between professional and personal life. Both views along with my personal opion will be elaborated in the upcoming paragraphs.

Examining the former opinion, some believes that when people spend quality time with their work colleagues after work, it will enhance good relation and bond, also mitigate hesitation. Not only this, individuals can also take help from other workers related to their tasks as they all work in the same company. for instance, researchers showed that 70% of business grow properly without any conflict just because their employees are friendly with each other. That is why, for the purpose of socialise, this is a good idea.

On the contrary, people who stands against this have their own views. The paramount concerte reason is that individuals lose their privacy, when they start to meet with their co-workers after work. Apart from this, boundaries may be affected by this, as people became friends so there is no respect or hesitation for higher position worker which can cause unrespectful environment. Last but not the least, whenever there is any small fight between two workers, it would effect on their personal secrets.

To conclude, it can be reiterated that there are innumerable facts determining that meeting colleagues help to reduce gap between them.

Ergo, it is important to protect own privacy by creating a gap between personal and professional life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, although the opinion is not clearly stated until the very end, making it feel somewhat disconnected. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of bonding versus the loss of privacy, but they are under-developed. For instance, the reference to '70% of business' lacks context and feels like a generic assertion rather than a well-supported example. To improve, ensure that your position is clearly established in the introduction and that each body paragraph provides more detailed, logical explanations for the points raised.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However', 'On the contrary', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Not only this' and 'Last but not the least'. The referencing is generally clear, but the connection between the final conclusion and the body paragraphs could be smoother to ensure a more cohesive flow of the overall argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices or non-standard collocations, such as 'mitigate hesitation', 'paramount concerte reason', and 'unrespectful environment'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. To reach a higher band, focus on using more natural collocations and a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary related to professional and personal life balance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'some believes' (subject-verb agreement), 'people who stands' (subject-verb agreement), 'it would effect on' (incorrect verb usage), and 'socialise' used as a noun. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. Increasing the accuracy of basic grammar and refining the use of complex structures would significantly improve the score.
