Student answer (Band 6.0)

The boundries between social life and work life has become a topic of discussion. While, some people believe that remain connected to work colleagues during the time-off is beneficial, others argue both life should be kept separate. I personally believe that although having good connections with co-workers is a good idea, work-life balance is far more important.

On the one hand, socialisation with colleagues helps to strenghten relationships and improve mutual understanding. This is because, spending time apart from workplace enables individual to understand a others perspective and opinions for thoroughly. It evantually finishes the work based conflicts, and imrove workplace environment. In addition to this, It might be the best idea to discuss the problems deeply, without any disraction and rush. For example, during any archietachual project it is not possible to discuss problem during construction as it is huge projet and hard to involve every contrator.

On the other hand, the opponents argue that for better physical and mental health, work and social life should be completely different. A small break from work have huge impact on individuals mental well-being. It offers them to relax and get refreshen. Whereas, staying involved in work all days a week can leave individuals exchausted and lesson the productivity. Moreover, It is essential to make bond stronger to spend time with friends. Othervise, it can significantely effects the relation with family and friend.

In conclusion, while spending free times with coworker can help to improve working experience and slove problems in a better way, family and friend's importance can not be ignored. I think for overall wellbeing a balanced approach to separate both the relations is essential.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on socialising with colleagues and providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as exploring the benefits of relationship-building and the counter-arguments regarding mental well-being and family time. However, some arguments lack full clarity or strong supporting examples; for instance, the mention of an 'archietachual project' is somewhat vague and confusingly integrated. Overall, the task is successfully fulfilled, and the position remains clear throughout, placing the response firmly at Band 6.5 to 7.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a clear overall progression with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed to link sentences and sections, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, cohesion is occasionally faulty or mechanical, and referencing is sometimes imprecise, such as 'both life' instead of 'both lives'. Furthermore, some transitional phrases and punctuation choices disrupt the natural flow of reading. These features align with the requirements for Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'socialisation', 'mutual understanding', and 'well-being'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'boundries' (boundaries), 'remain' instead of 'remaining', 'archietachual' (architectural), 'contrator' (contractor), 'evantually' (eventually), 'imrove' (improve), 'disraction' (distraction), 'refreshen' (refreshed), 'exchausted' (exhausted), 'lesson' (lessen), 'Othervise' (Otherwise), 'significantely' (significantly), 'effects' (affects), and 'slove' (solve). These errors indicate a limited control over spelling and word formation, capping the score at Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure with conditional and dependent clauses like 'While, some people believe that...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The boundries... has become', 'others argue both life should be kept'), missing articles ('during time-off', 'during construction', 'as huge projet'), and awkward phrasing ('helps to strenghten relationships'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the writing from achieving a higher band score.
