Student answer (Band 6.0)
In which ways someone should socialise have become a widely debated issue. Some individuals believe that it is better to spend time with co-workers in the evening or on weekends while others say there should be difference between work life and social life. This essay will discuss both views along with my opinion.
On the one hand, some people believe that going out with colleagues at work is beneficial. The main reason is that it helps to make their bond strong. To explain it, people spend most of their time at work in a more professional setting but if they make plans with the people they work with, then it helps to refresh their mind and they get a chance to know better about each other. Hence, they become good friends and work environment gets very friendly and life is more easy-going.
On the other hand, others argue that work life should be different from personal life. To be more clear, sometime employees do not have that luxurious life outside so if their co-workers know about it they can use it for their own benefit thus differences between people rises. As result, work gets affected.
In my opinion, people should have different friends from their office colleagues. As they get a chance to refresh their mind. Because, sometime if they go out with their co-workers they tend to discuss more about the work than their life in general. Thus mind get stuck instead of gettig

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on socialising with colleagues and providing a personal opinion, though the discussion remains somewhat generalised. Ideas such as strengthening bonds or potential workplace conflicts are introduced but not fully extended with concrete examples. Furthermore, the task is penalised slightly for length, as the response falls short of the 250-word minimum, containing 245 words. Consequently, the development is slightly restricted, aligning the overall execution with a band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, introduction, and conclusion sections. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In my opinion' are used to signpost the structure of the argument. However, referencing is occasionally imprecise, and logical progression is disrupted in the concluding paragraph where sentences are incomplete and abruptly cut off ('instead of gettig'). Despite these minor mechanical flaws, the text remains easy to follow overall, securing a solid band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms like 'beneficial', 'professional setting', and 'luxurious life'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'make their bond strong' instead of 'strengthen their bond', and 'life is more easy-going' rather than 'life becomes more relaxed'. Spelling errors, such as 'gettig' in the final sentence, further limit the lexical score, placing the response firmly at band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditional structures like 'if they make plans with the people they work with, then it helps...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, including 'In which ways someone should socialise have become', 'differences between people rises', and sentence fragments or incomplete thoughts towards the end of the text. While these errors do not completely obscure meaning, they reduce the proportion of error-free sentences, justifying a band 5.5.
