Student answer (Band 6.0)

Well, according to some people having friends from workplace is a great idea to socialise after working hours. However, some of them suggest that private life should be completely seprate from professional life. Here, i will be discussing both notion in upcoming paragraphs along with my personal opinion.

First of all , everyone have some good friends to socialize and spend evenings after work and I don’t agree that we should be spending time with our colleagues after work because sometimes workplace is quite exhausting and fatigue. And everyone wants to relax and want to have some great time away from work or workplace colleagues. And we meet our friends to relax and enjoy our evening together and with friends we can share all sort of things that we can not talk about in front of our teammates. Which can be used against at us on our workplace and that can be little unprofessional.

Although, by having some good friends from workplace can be actully a positive aspact because sometime that proven to be a true friendship in future. our workplace friends can be our family if we are living away from our house. Moreover, i have seen many people who were met at the same job and now they share alot of cruicial time together. Therefore, it is totally depends on the nature of the human if they have great bonding and adequate trust that these friendships can be life long.

To conclude, i believe that we should keep our personal and professional life seprate because a mutual balance among work and personal life can be heplfull in long run.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—socialising with colleagues versus keeping work and private life separate—and presents a clear personal opinion. The ideas are generally relevant, but some points are under-developed or repetitive, such as the discussion on fatigue and avoiding unprofessionalism in the second body paragraph. The stance is maintained throughout the essay, but the extension of ideas tends to be limited by superficial explanation and minor over-generalisation. For example, stating that workplace friendships can be used against us is a valid point, but it lacks sufficient extension to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fitting the criteria for Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical four-paragraph structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. The writer relies heavily on basic cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'Although', and 'To conclude', and some transition words are used incorrectly, such as beginning a sentence with 'Although, by having...' in the third paragraph. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and paragraphing could be managed more fluidly. Despite these flaws, the progression of ideas is discernible, which places the response securely at Band 6.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'professional life', 'exhausting', 'crucial time', and 'mutual balance'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors throughout the response, including 'seprate', 'aspact', 'alot', 'heplfull', and capitalisation errors like 'i' and 'our'. Word choice is sometimes inaccurate or awkward, such as 'nature of the human' instead of 'human nature'. These lexical errors and limitations place the vocabulary performance at a Band 5.5 level, rounded to 6.0 for adequacy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('everyone have', 'it is totally depends'), article usage, and punctuation. Run-on sentences and sentence fragments also occur, such as 'Which can be used against at us on our workplace and that can be little unprofessional.' While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the writing from achieving a Band 6.5. Control over grammar is better suited to a Band 5.5, which is rounded to 6.0.
