Student answer (Band 5.5)

People hold differing views about to being socialise at workplace, with some argue that it is preferable to spend evening and weekend with collegue, while others believe that it is necessary to keep work life private from scocial life. Although both the perspectives have some pros and cons, I believe that spending some time with co-worker offers numerious advantages.

To begin with, there are many reasons present which support the social work culture. Firstly, promoting socialisation during the work time offer advantages such as mutual understanding, flexible operation and mutual growth. Sililarly, workers can build both trust and respect with their fellow worker. As result, the working environment will not only be positive but also supportive. In much the same way, socialisation can be benefical for target achievement and team progress. Due to which, company can progress faster with good stability.

On the other side, many arguments support the idea to keep work life saperate from the social life. To begin with, keeping work life private from social life help to maintain legal boundry. In addition, being socialise can sometime harm individual respect and ethics. For example, many people who are often spend time together at workplace or outside expose private incidents during the arguments or conflics.

To sum up, both the views offer number of merits and demerits. However, I strongly believe that, by setting up some personal boundries and rules before being socialise, anyone can achive success and maintain good personal as well as professional life. Thus, the idea of being socialise is largely positive.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—socialising with colleagues versus keeping work and social life separate—and presents a clear personal opinion. The writer establishes a position in the introduction and reiterates it in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas in the body paragraphs is somewhat repetitive and relies on generalisations rather than deeply extended explanations or specific examples. For instance, phrases like 'mutual understanding, flexible operation and mutual growth' are listed without concrete elaboration. While the task is adequately fulfilled to cover the main prompts, the supporting points need more depth and specific examples to reach a higher band. Therefore, this performance fits the Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay is generally coherent with an overall logical arrangement. The text is divided into four distinct paragraphs, following a standard essay structure. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Firstly', 'On the other side', and 'To sum up' are employed to guide the reader through the arguments. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, expressions like 'Due to which' are used incorrectly as sentence connectors, and transitions between sentences can feel abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different viewpoints, but the internal progression within body paragraphs lacks smooth linking, placing it firmly at a Band 6 level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'socialisation', 'mutual understanding', and 'professional life'. However, there are numerous noticeable word-choice, morphological, and spelling errors throughout the text. Examples include 'to being socialise' instead of 'socialising', 'collegue' instead of 'colleagues', 'scocial' instead of 'social', 'numerious' instead of 'numerous', 'Sililarly' instead of 'Similarly', 'benefical' instead of 'beneficial', 'saperate' instead of 'separate', 'boundry' instead of 'boundary', and 'conflics' instead of 'conflicts'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the vocabulary score from rising above Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and concessive clauses ('Although both the perspectives have some pros and cons, I believe that...'). However, the text contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding verb forms, article usage, and prepositions. Examples include 'People hold differing views about to being socialise at workplace', 'with some argue that', 'spend evening and weekend', 'keep work life private from social life help', and 'being socialise can sometime harm'. These recurring mistakes in basic grammar and sentence construction cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and reflect typical Band 5 characteristics.
