Student answer (Band 6.5)
Human is a social animal. He has developed interation not only with other people but also with other species for survival. Many people argue that having social connections is benefical while others criticize it.
It totally depends on one's circumstances. Some people are more leaned towards making social circle larger. They think that a man cannnot work alone in any aspect of life. It is necessary to have friends and colleagues in a working place. This helps building a healthy companionship and encourages teamwork. You never know how circumstances can change so everyone adds up significance in the daily chores or tasks that are assigned to them in a work place.
Moreover, working with the crew over the time changes the status from work colleagues to friendships.
It should be encouraged to invite them over the weekends to spend time and this contributes to have a healthy and sustainable relationship with friends. It helps to recharge the mind and body and prepares for the next hectic week.
On the other hand, many people think that work and personal life should be kept separate as some people are not willing to share their personal space with others especially on the weekends. They either try to spend time alone or with their family. This keeps the sense of tradition and values alive for the family and builds long-lasting bond with the children as well.
In my perspective, I agree that not only it's important to socialise with peers over free time, it's also equally important to maintain privacy and social values.
A balance betweem personal and work life should be kept as it is the best sustainable approach.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on socialising with colleagues and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as mentioning the transition from colleagues to friends and the importance of family time. However, some arguments lack full extension. For instance, the point about family values and building bonds with children is introduced in the fourth paragraph but not deeply explored with specific examples. The position is clear throughout, starting from the introduction and reiterated in the conclusion. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing it firmly at a Band 6.5 or 7.0 level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different viewpoints, with the introduction, body paragraphs discussing both sides, and the conclusion clearly demarcated. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In my perspective', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but occasional minor lapses in cohesive flow prevent the response from reaching a higher band. The progression from discussing workplace camaraderie to family time is handled smoothly enough to ensure the reader can follow the argument without difficulty.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'companionship', 'sustainable relationship', and 'privacy'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation issues, such as 'interation' (a spelling error for interaction), 'benefical', and 'leaned towards making social circle larger' instead of 'leaning towards expanding their social circle'. Furthermore, there is a spelling typo in 'betweem'. While these inaccuracies do not impede communication, they reflect a Band 6 level where vocabulary control is sufficient for the task but exhibits intermittent errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over structure through sentences like 'You never know how circumstances can change so everyone adds up significance...' and 'It should be encouraged to invite them over the weekends...'. However, there are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'Human is a social animal' (should be 'Humans are' or 'Man is'), 'adds up significance' (awkward collocation), and missing articles or prepositions ('in a working place' instead of 'in the workplace'). Despite these errors, punctuation is generally sound, and the mistakes rarely impede overall communication, placing this securely in the Band 6 category.
