Student answer (Band 5.0)

The question of who primarily teach good behaviour and the concept of right and wrong to children is a complex one. While parents play a significant role in imparting these values, schools also have a crucial part to play in the moral and ethical development of children. In my opinion , both parents and schools share responsibility of teaching moral value and good behaviour to children.

Parents are a childs first educator and they play a fundamentak role in shaping their children's character. They provide the initial farmwork for understanding values , ethics and social norms. Parents can instill empathy , kindness and respect through their everyday interaction and examples they set. However not all parents have time ,resources and knowledage of moral values, this is where schools come into play .

Schools, as formal institutions of education have a responsibility to reinforce and complement those moral values childern learn at home. they provide a structured curriculum that includes lessons on good behaviour .ethics and civic responsibilities. This formal education in ethics helps to ensure that children receive consistent message of what is wrong or right.

Moreover, schools serve as microcosm of society where children interact with peers with diverse backgrounds. This interaction teachs children valuable lessons of empathy, understanding and tolerance.teachers and staff members serve as positive role models, further reinforcing the importace of good behaviour.

In summary It is not matter of either school of parents responsible for teaching good behaviour and values to children. Both have important roles to play in development of moral and ethical of next generation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

It is important to note that the student has written about whether parents or schools should teach good behaviour to children, which completely misses the actual prompt regarding socialising with work colleagues versus keeping work and social life separate. Despite this complete off-topic issue regarding the prompt content, the student does present a clear position and develops relevant ideas about moral education. However, because the response is entirely off-topic for the assigned General Training Task 2 prompt, the Task Achievement score is heavily impacted. The writer addresses the prompt they wrote about rather than the one provided, which severely limits task fulfillment under IELTS guidelines.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The text demonstrates a clear overall structure with an introduction, well-defined body paragraphs, and a brief summary conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as the role of parents versus the role of schools. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and there are mechanical issues with spacing around punctuation marks, such as 'In my opinion ,' and 'Parents are a childs first educator'. While the logical progression of ideas is fairly easy to follow within the writer's chosen theme, referencing and cohesive devices could be managed with greater flexibility.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'imparting these values', 'ethical development', 'structured curriculum', and 'microcosm of society'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'fundamentak' instead of fundamental, 'farmwork' instead of framework, 'knowledage' instead of knowledge, and 'teachs' instead of teaches. These lexical errors and awkward formations show a lack of precision, though communication is generally not impeded.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional-style constructions such as 'While parents play a significant role in imparting these values, schools also have a crucial part...'. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several punctuation and capitalization issues, missing apostrophes ('childs'), and missing articles ('receive consistent message', 'It is not matter of either school of parents responsible'). Complex structures often contain minor slips or awkward phrasing, placing this firmly in the Band 5 to 6 range.
