Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that socialising with colleagues outside working hours is beneficial, while others prefer to keep their professional and personal lives separate. This essay will discuss both views, and I believe that socialising with colleagues occasionally can be beneficial, as long as people maintain a healthy balance.

One major advantage of socialising with work colleagues is that it can improve relationships at work. This is beacuse employee can understand each other nature and working style while spending time once in quater.

For example,If we plan meeting each other on weekends or having dinner together then we have more space to understand each other comfortably. As a result, This create cooperate environment posiitve during office hours.

On the other hand, some people believe that professional and social life should be kept separate. However, Employee need more me time to relax and spend quality time with their friends and family too.

For instance, people spend entire hours in offices and due to this they having lots of stress and work pressure and cannot able to give enough time to their families. Therefore, they like to spend those weekends with thier families to rewind themselves for upcoming weekdays and maintain better work -life balance.

In conclusion, socilaising with colleagues can strengthen relationships with teams and positive working environment.Whereas spending time with family memeber and sitting idol at home can help to relax from stress and unwind those hectic schedule to keep work and personal life balance. In my opinion, occasional get-to-gether is beneficial but keeping personal and professional life separate give positive outcome in their moods.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on socialising with colleagues and providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack full clarity. For instance, the argument that socialising improves workplace relationships is introduced with general statements like 'this is beacuse employee can understand each other nature' without deeper elaboration on the long-term impact on productivity or teamwork. The examples provided, such as 'spending time once in quater', are slightly vague. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to extend and support these ideas with more specific explanations and fully developed examples throughout the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion effectively. Cohesive devices are used to signal shifts in argumentation, such as 'One major advantage', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. For example, referencing is not always clear, as seen in the transition 'For example, If we plan meeting each other', where the connection between sentences feels abrupt. Additionally, some transitional phrasing is repetitive or slightly awkward, which prevents the essay from achieving a more fluid and sophisticated logical progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common phrases such as 'maintain a healthy balance', 'professional and social life', and 'work-life balance'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors ('beacuse', 'employee' instead of employees, 'quater', 'poosiitve', 'thier', 'socilaising', 'memeber', 'get-to-gether', 'idol') and word choice inaccuracies ('rewind themselves', 'unwind those hectic schedule') that occasionally distract the reader. While communication is not severely impeded, the frequency of these lexical and spelling slips prevents the vocabulary score from reaching a higher level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use varied structures such as conditional and relative clauses ('as long as people maintain a healthy balance', 'Some people believe that...'). However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement ('employee can understand', 'Employee need', 'people spend... they having', 'life separate give'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('cannot able to give', 'sitting idol at home'). While these errors rarely impede overall communication, the persistence of basic grammatical inaccuracies across different sentence types places this response firmly at the current level.
