Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is undeniable that work environment plays a vital role in the employees life. A group of individual think that in the off time of work, colleagues should meet outside especially on weekends or in the evenings. Other people believe that worker should keep their personal and professional life separate. This essay will discuss both perceptions of issue in the concern and it will give my personal opinion in the end.

On the one hand, some people think that colleagues should meet outside workplace. To elaborate, due to this evening meetings employees can make their bond strong. During these time they can not only share their personal life problems but also they can enjoy each others comapany. Additionally, it offers them to learn different cultures and traditions. Workers can learn various languages and also they have chance to develope their culinary skills with others traditional dishes. To quote an instance, many employees said that their children have good opportunity to make friends during their outing with colleagues.

From the other point of view, many individuals believe that workers should maintain their boundaries and avoid to meet colleagues outside of workplace. To explain further, owing to the outside gathering, employees create issues for themselves. For example many extrovert people share their families hidden information to the other worker, which becomes a prominent topic of workplace. In fact sometimes it breaks the friendship of two individuals. Apart from this if two different gender people meeting outside, it can create misinterpretion for society. Therefore, socialisation outside is not a good option for workers.

In conclusion, although ghathering outside of office have some disadvantages, the benefits of meeting colleagues off time work are more. From my perspective, workers should set up meeting on their free time because it offers wide range of learning options not only for themselves but also for their loved ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on socialising with colleagues and providing a clear personal opinion. The student's position is maintained throughout the essay. Ideas are generally relevant, but some are developed more fully than others, showing characteristics of both the band six and band seven criteria. For instance, the discussion on strengthening bonds and learning cultures is extended with examples like children making friends, fulfilling the requirements for fully addressing the task. However, points such as the mention of different genders creating societal misinterpretation lack sufficient support and remain somewhat under-developed. To reach the next level, all supporting arguments should be equally elaborated with strong, convincing examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay demonstrates a clear logical organisation and progression throughout, allowing the reader to follow the writer's line of thought easily. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with distinct introductions, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The writer employs cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'From the other point of view', and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in perspective, although some referencing is occasionally mechanical. Overall progression is well-managed across the text. To move beyond this band, cohesive devices and referencing could be used even more flexibly and subtly without relying heavily on formulaic transition phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating main ideas with terms like 'environment', 'professional', 'extrovert', and 'socialisation'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word formation. For example, phrases like 'off time of work', 'develope their culinary skills', and 'ghathering outside of office' reveal awkward phrasing and spelling slips. Attempts to use less common vocabulary sometimes result in unnatural collocations. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to incorporate a wider and more precise range of lexical items with fewer errors in word formation and collocation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied structures such as conditional and relative clauses. However, there are persistent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement errors like 'A group of individual think' and 'worker should', missing articles such as 'in the employees life', and preposition or pattern errors like 'avoid to meet' and 'different gender people meeting'. Despite these noticeable errors, they rarely impede overall communication. To reach a higher level, the writer must produce a greater frequency of error-free sentences and demonstrate tighter control over complex grammatical structures.
