Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, A faction of the people stick on to the opinion that It is a better idea to spend time with the work mates during the time available after work and in the weekends. While the other half believes that the life in the work place and private life should be kept isolated and they are not supposed to be mixed up. In other words, the work life and the private life should not be entangled. In the upcoming paragraphs there will be views from both perspective and it will give a clear image.

To begin with, the meeting after the work hours or at the end of the week is a excellent way to reduce the stress occured in the workplace. In other words, the time spend during evenings in a tea shop or at a party has a significant role in resolving the tension caused in the work place. More than that the evening meeting between the work mates will deepen the relationship each other and It will enhance the quality of work they provided as a team.

On the view of people who insists the getting together after the working hours is completely unneccessary and It is the time that can be spend within the family members. The another important thing that these people put forward is the getting together after working hours will result in the exploitation of peoples privacy.

In my opinion, socialising after working hours during weekends and after working hours is a good thing and it will give a break from the fast paced life style. It will also improve there skills in the work place.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state your preference clearly: you support socialising with colleagues because it can relieve stress and strengthen teamwork. These are relevant points, and the examples of meeting at a tea shop or party help illustrate the first view. However, the opposing position receives much less explanation: you mention family time and privacy but do not show why these matter or give an example. Your own opinion is also asserted rather than fully supported, and the final claim about improving workplace skills is not explained. To develop the response further, extend each main reason with a specific consequence or example and make the comparison between the two positions clearer.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. This makes the overall arrangement coherent, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “In my opinion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, and the introduction repeats the separation idea in “kept isolated” and “should not be entangled.” The paragraph on the opposing view is brief and its ideas are not developed in a clear sequence. Some references are also unclear, such as “these people” without a precise link to the preceding point. Use fewer formulaic transitions and connect each reason to its explanation or example more explicitly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “reduce the stress,” “resolving the tension,” “deepen the relationship,” and “exploitation of peoples privacy.” These choices show an attempt to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which makes parts of the response less natural: “stick on to the opinion,” “time spend,” and “the quality of work they provided” are examples. Spelling and word-form errors such as “occurred,” “unnecessary,” and “their” also need attention. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than more elaborate phrasing; checking common collocations and proofreading spelling would make your meaning clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “While” and a sentence explaining that socialising can reduce workplace stress. However, complex structures are not consistently controlled, and errors occur in articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “a excellent way” needs the correct article, while “the time spend” requires a participle form. The opening “While the other half believes…” is a fragment because it is not joined to a main clause. There are also inconsistent capital letters within sentences and some punctuation problems. Practise building complete sentences with subordinate clauses, then check articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries.
