Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that it is a good idea to socialise with co-workers during evenings and weekends whereas others believe that it is important to keep working life fully separate from social life. Both views have their merits and I will discuss both before giving my opinion in the following paragraphs.
Socialising with work colleagues during evening or weekends will have a positive impact on their minds that they are their friends and not just co-workers and competitors so they can listen each others problem which may include financial issues ,family concerns and suggest some solutions. For instance , There is gradual decline in work or health related complaints recorded among those companies whose employees spend more time with their colleagues after the working hours .So, this can be considered as a stressbuster .
On the other hand , working person also have personal life and should reserve some time for their families , relatives and personal hobbies and should not mix personal life with professional life. For example , A survey in United States reveals that individuals who spend their free time with their loved ones are more happy in their life rather than those who do not.
In my opinion , everything should be balanced and no one should feel avoided. Social gathering with colleagues on special occasions are preffered to stay in touch while family can never be ignored as they are the first priority.
In conclusion, both views hold their ground as socialising with co-workers will refresh minds while a part of time should be reserfor own hobbies and families. Moreover , both can be balanced with right appproach.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear personal position: you support socialising with colleagues on special occasions while prioritising family life. The first body paragraph explains how workplace friendships may help colleagues share problems and reduce stress, and the second gives a reason to protect time for family and hobbies. These are relevant points, but some are less fully developed than others. The claim about a decline in workplace complaints is presented as a survey-like fact without explaining its source or showing how it supports the argument, while the family point is also brief. To strengthen the response, explain the benefits and drawbacks more precisely and add a concrete, credible example for each view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand,” “In my opinion,” and “In conclusion” help readers see how the discussion develops. The position in the opinion paragraph also connects the two sides. Some links between ideas are less smooth, however: the first body paragraph moves quickly from friendship to sharing personal problems and then to a claim about workplace complaints. The conclusion largely repeats earlier points rather than drawing them together. Use clearer links to explain how each example supports its paragraph’s main idea, and make the final summary more specific.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss workplace relationships and personal life, including “co-workers,” “competitors,” “financial issues,” “personal hobbies,” and “professional life.” There are also attempts at more expressive wording, such as “stressbuster” and “hold their ground.” However, several choices are awkward or imprecise for this context, including “positive impact on their minds,” “more happy,” and “refresh minds.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “preffered,” “reserfor,” and “appproach” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe socialising as helping colleagues “build trust” or “relieve stress,” rather than using less idiomatic phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast in the opening sentence and a relative clause in “companies whose employees spend more time with their colleagues.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “they are their friends” where the intended meaning needs a clearer structure, “listen each others problem” with missing grammatical marking, and “working person also have” with subject–verb disagreement. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, such as the capitalised “There” after a comma and the long, loosely joined sentence in the first body paragraph. Review agreement, possessives, articles, and punctuation, then divide long sentences where needed.
