Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some individual believe that it is great idea to communicate with work colleagues while evenings and weekends, whereas other think that it is significant to separate work-life from social life. I deem that connecting with peers can strengthen teamwork, but at the same time it is also important to preserve personal boundries.

On the one hand, socializing with workmates after the work hours can be enjoyable and entertainig. Communication with them helps to maintain a great relationship as well as mutual support. For example, coworkers often understand workplace challenges better than friends or family; because, they are also facing the similar situation on a daily basis. Moreover, they may become good friends by cooperating and sharing ideas to each other. However, it is also important to choose friends wisely because in this fast-paced world everyone likes to compete with each other.

On the other hand, the possible reason to completely seperate working life from social is privacy. Some individuals do not feel convenient to share their personal problems or family matters with the associates. This is mainly because they do not want to be a topic of conversation in office and business related tours. Hence, it could entirely disrupt one's peace and indirectly affect to their work output. For instance, one of the finest career coach has suggested that it is good to make a clear boundary between personal and work life based on outcome of recent surv ey conducted in the top five well-known companies.

In conclusion, although it is important to isolate professional life from individual life, mainly to maintain privacy; but, I personally believe that maintaining a healthy relation with peers is crucial in today's world. Thus, work frienship has more benefits and aids in terms of mental well-being of a person.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear opinion: socialising can strengthen teamwork, while personal boundaries remain important. The two body paragraphs give relevant reasons, including mutual support and privacy, and the example about colleagues understanding workplace challenges helps explain the benefits. However, some points are less fully developed than others. The warning that people compete with one another is introduced but not explained, and the career-coach example is vague: the survey and its findings are not specified, so it does little to support the claim. Your conclusion restates your preference, but could more directly weigh the benefits against the risks. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or a specific, credible example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from the advantages of workplace friendships to the case for privacy is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the discussion clear. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some stronger control through paragraphing and a logical sequence. However, a few links are mechanical or awkward: “Hence” does not clearly show how the preceding point leads to the effect on work output, and “although …; but” creates an unclear relationship in the conclusion. Some references, such as “they” in the first body paragraph, could also be more precise. Use transitions that express the exact logical connection between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including phrases such as “mutual support,” “workplace challenges,” “personal problems,” and “clear boundary.” There are also attempts at less common or formal vocabulary, such as “disrupt” and “professional life,” though some choices are inaccurate or unnatural. For example, “communicate with work colleagues while evenings and weekends” does not express socialising naturally, and “do not feel convenient” uses the wrong word form and collocation. Spelling slips such as “boundries,” “entertainig,” “seperate,” and “frienship” are noticeable, as is the accidental spacing in “surv ey.” These errors do not prevent understanding, but more accurate collocations and careful proofreading would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a contrast clause in the opening and a reason clause beginning “This is mainly because.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include missing or incorrect articles in “it is great idea” and “a topic of conversation,” agreement in “Some individual believe” and “other think,” and the construction “affect to their work output.” The sentence beginning “For instance” is difficult to control because its structure is overloaded, while “although …; but” combines two contrasting forms incorrectly. Punctuation also needs attention, particularly the comma before “but” in the introduction and the semicolon after “because.” Aim for more consistently accurate sentence patterns while continuing to use complex clauses.
