Student answer (Band 5.5)

A few individuals argue that people should socialize with their work partners and spend time with them on weekends and festivals. On the other hand, some individuals believe that work and personal life should always be separated. This essay will discuss both views and my opinion that why people should regularly spend more time with their co-workers in the following paragraphs.

To begin with, spending additional time with their work colleagues helps them to grow in life. For instance, when they together spend more time with each other , it helps them to better understanding of other's personality, they can point out a few mistakes of other's behaviour and help each other to overcome from those particular mistakes. Secondly, people become more familiar and comfortable with each other. Hence, partners do not hesitate from each other asking for help whenever they get stuck at a point. Eventually ,it leads them to grow in their professional lives.

On the other hand, when people have a better understanding of their work partners, sometimes it can creates an unfriendly environment and losses to the business. For example, people keep gossiping about other stuff instead of providing positive outcomes in the field. People spend extra time on unnecessary talks which will eventually leads to bring worst results in the companies.

From my perspective, it is generally a good idea to hangout with work colleagues. Individuals share their thoughts and experiences with each other and at brings positive outcomes for personal and professional growth. Furthermore, a friendly environment at workplace also helps the businesses to earn good revenue.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both positions and state your preference for socialising with colleagues, so the response addresses the main parts of the prompt. The first view is supported with reasons about understanding colleagues, feeling comfortable asking for help, and professional growth. However, the opposing view is less fully explained: the claim that socialising can create an “unfriendly environment” is not clearly connected to the later example about gossip and business results. Your own opinion is clear, but the final paragraph mostly repeats benefits already mentioned rather than developing a distinct reason or a specific example. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely when socialising may harm work and extend each main point with a relevant illustration.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. Signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “From my perspective” help readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, however, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Hence” introduces the result of becoming familiar, but the link between colleagues’ personal familiarity and professional growth could be made more explicit. The sentence about an “unfriendly environment” also shifts to gossip without clearly showing how the ideas relate. Improve progression by organising each paragraph around one central claim and using clearer references and cause-and-effect links between supporting sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “professional lives,” “positive outcomes,” “personal and professional growth,” and “revenue,” which allows you to discuss workplace relationships and their effects. However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural, such as “work partners” for colleagues, “grow in life,” and “losses to the business.” There are also awkward expressions such as “overcome from those particular mistakes” and “hangout with work colleagues,” which reduce naturalness. Aim for more accurate collocations and vary repeated words such as “people,” “time,” and “work.” For instance, use “develop professionally,” “damage business performance,” and “socialise with colleagues” to express your ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “when,” “which,” and “whenever,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some errors remain in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “sometimes it can creates” should be “sometimes it can create,” while “which will eventually leads” should be “which will eventually lead.” In “it helps them to better understanding,” the verb pattern should be “helps them better understand.” The long sentence beginning “when they together spend more time” also needs clearer structure and punctuation. Review modal verb patterns, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries, then proofread complex sentences carefully.
