Student answer (Band 5.0)
As we know that physical activities are important for our physical and mental health. If we specifically talk about Australian men and women, we have noticed that in different period of ages they have increased and decreased the use of physical activites in their lives. When we talk about the men in their early young age from 15 to 24 they are young and energatic and the study says they do more exercise or participate in more physical activites then women, but then we notices that from 25 to 34, women are more active then men, they are performing more physical activities, which shows that women of this age period are more tent to do exercise then men, sometimes with their own likeness and sometimes because doctors recommend them to, either way women are participating more. After that another study shows that, women at the age of 35 to 54 are way more active than men of their age. Now it may be because, men are more into their career building. They are more busy in making money and during this period they sometimes forget about their own health. Moreover, from 55 to 64 women are richer in physical activities than men but then they fall when they grow and reaches the late 60s and so on, they do less physical acivities and according to the study at this point they are almost equal. So, according to this whole study, it is obvious that women do more physical activities than men.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several relevant comparisons: men lead in the youngest group, women lead across the middle age groups, and the figures are close among people aged 65 and over. However, the response only partially fulfils the chart-summary task because it gives no percentages and does not clearly present the main overall pattern. The claim that women are more active overall overlooks that men have the higher rate among 15–24-year-olds; a more accurate overview would note that women lead in five of the six groups, while men lead in the youngest group. Explanations about career-building, doctors’ advice and personal preference are speculative and are not shown by the chart. Focus on reporting the data rather than explaining its causes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response follows the age groups in a broadly understandable order and uses linking expressions such as “After that” and “Moreover” to connect comparisons. However, it is presented as one long paragraph, so the overview and supporting details are not clearly separated. The repeated openings “When we talk about” and “After that” make progression feel mechanical, while several ideas—such as the speculation about men’s careers—interrupt the chart description. Some references are also unclear, particularly “they fall when they grow,” where the reader must infer that this refers to women’s activity rates. Use a brief overview followed by logically grouped comparisons, and make each transition and pronoun reference precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary, including “physical activities,” “participating,” “active” and “almost equal,” so the general topic is clear. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise for describing statistical data. Expressions such as “richer in physical activities” and “more tent to do exercise” are not natural collocations, and “use of physical activities in their lives” does not clearly describe participation rates. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “activites,” “energatic” and “acivities.” Build a more precise chart vocabulary—such as “proportion,” “rate,” “higher than,” “declined” and “peaked”—and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt longer sentences with subordinate clauses and contrast, for example, “When we talk about the men … they are young and … the study says…”. However, these complex constructions are often faulty or difficult to follow, and many sentences are joined together with commas rather than being clearly punctuated. There are recurring problems with agreement and verb forms, as in “they fall when they grow and reaches,” and with sentence construction in “As we know that physical activities are important.” The response also shifts between present and past forms without a clear reason. Use shorter, controlled sentences to report each comparison, then add complex structures only when you can maintain accurate agreement, tense and punctuation.
