Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features and making relevant comparisons. You have successfully highlighted the peak participation age group (45-54) and the lowest participation group (65+). However, the report lacks a clear, cohesive overview at the beginning; while you included an 'Overall' paragraph at the end, the initial summary is a bit weak. Some data points are presented in a list-like fashion, which slightly hinders the 'reporting' aspect of the task. To improve, ensure you group data more logically rather than just listing percentages for each age bracket, and provide a more comprehensive summary of the trends in the introduction.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Turning towards the rest of details' and 'After taking the statistical data into account'. The transition between sentences is occasionally abrupt, and the final sentence of the second paragraph ('Moreover in 2010') is an incomplete fragment that disrupts the flow. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that every sentence is complete and contributes to the logical progression of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, using terms like 'proportion', 'calibrated', and 'statistical data'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'it may infer' (should be 'it may be inferred') and 'the highest of male and female' (should be 'the highest percentage of males and females'). The phrasing 'The data is calibrated in ratio' is also slightly unnatural in this context. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for data description and ensure that your word forms (nouns vs. verbs) are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'how many Australian male and female did' (should be 'how many Australian males and females participated') and 'it clearly seen' (should be 'it is clearly seen'). Additionally, some sentences are missing necessary prepositions or have awkward phrasing, like '47.7 and 52.5, 39.5%'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for missing verbs will help improve your score.
