The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The bar chart illustrates the proportion of two genders who participated in regular physical activity in Australia in 2010.

Overall, it can be noticed that the 65 and over age group had almost the same proportion. Age group of 15 to 24 in males recorded the highest proportion. While females in the 45 to 54 age group recorded the highest figure.

To begin with, males of age group 15 to 24 recorded with highest proportion at 52.8%, while this figure for females was 47.7%. This trend changed in the next age group of 25 to 34 where females recorded the highest figure at 48.9% whereas the figures for males was 42.2%. Similarly 39.5% of males and 52.2% of females participated of aged group 35 to 44.

Moreover, females peaked at 53.3%, while this figure for males was 43.1% in the 45 to 54 age group. Aged group of 55 to 64 females experienced a slightly declined to 53% while males experienced an increased to 45.1%. In the 65 and over age group had almost the same figures whereas females at 47.1% and males at 46.7%.
