Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response attempts to summarise the data but struggles with clarity and accuracy. While it identifies some trends, the description of the age groups is confusing, as the specific age ranges are not mentioned, and the terminology used (e.g., 'third forth and fifth group') is vague. The comparison between genders is attempted, but the lack of precise data points makes it difficult for the reader to follow the trends. To improve, you must clearly state the age categories provided in the chart and use specific percentages to support your observations rather than relying on general descriptions like 'highest' or 'lower'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt to group information, the transitions between sentences are often abrupt or confusing. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'in the first second and in the last group'. Paragraphing is present but does not effectively separate the different trends, making the overall structure feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using linking words like 'conversely', 'in contrast', or 'furthermore' to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'ratio of', 'group', and 'numbers' are used repeatedly, which restricts the range of the response. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'daily physical movements' instead of 'regular physical activity' and 'thirst' instead of 'third'. The lack of variety in descriptive language makes the report feel simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant disparity'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the female having the similar numbers'), incorrect prepositions, and missing articles. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'that's tell that the age period... participates in more activities'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and incorrect capitalization. Focusing on basic sentence construction, ensuring verbs agree with their subjects, and proofreading for small errors like 'then' versus 'than' will significantly improve your score.
