Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the bar chart, such as the age groups and gender comparisons. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks a clear overview or summary of the trends. Some data points are described, but the comparison between groups is inconsistent. For instance, the statement that the 35-44 age group for males is the 'lowest' is factually incorrect based on the data provided, as the 65+ group is lower. To improve, you should provide a clear introductory overview of the main trends and ensure that data comparisons are accurate and logically grouped rather than just listing statistics.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps with the overall structure. However, the logical progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'lastly'. Additionally, some sentences are difficult to follow due to awkward phrasing, such as 'female of 35 to 44 age groups has maintain the percentage from to other groups'. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'percentage' and 'activity' without varying your language. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'has doing' instead of 'participated in' or 'was involved in'. Some phrases are unclear, which forces the reader to guess the intended meaning. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'figure', 'fluctuated', or 'remained stable', and work on using more natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'female has 47.7 percentage'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'has doing'), and missing articles or prepositions. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects and that articles are used correctly before nouns. Proofreading for basic tense consistency will also significantly improve your score.
