Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. Furthermore, the essay is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence in the second body paragraph. While you successfully identify the main features and provide some data comparisons, the analysis is truncated, preventing a full overview of the data. To improve, ensure you complete the entire task, including a clear summary of all age groups and a concluding comparison. The failure to finish the response means that the information is not fully reported, and the task is only partially addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay attempts to use paragraphing, but the structure is undermined by the incomplete nature of the text. There is an attempt at an overview, though it is poorly punctuated (e.g., 'Overall, .'). Cohesive devices are present but used in a somewhat mechanical or repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'The... age group is of...'. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, logical progression. The abrupt ending makes it difficult to assess the overall coherence of the piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'working male and female' and 'age group'. The term 'working' is also inaccurate in this context, as the chart refers to 'regular physical activity,' not employment. Using more precise terminology like 'participated in physical activity' or 'engagement in exercise' would improve your score. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'most working male' instead of 'highest proportion of males'. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and nouns will help you achieve a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Female are shown active') and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'The most working male and female are of age group'). The sentence structure is quite simple, and the attempt at complex sentences is limited. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly the stray period after 'Overall'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and ensuring subject-verb agreement. Additionally, try to incorporate more complex sentence forms, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, while ensuring they remain grammatically accurate.
