Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers the main features of the data and makes relevant comparisons. You successfully identified the highest and lowest points and noted the gender-based trends. However, the summary is slightly marred by inaccuracies in data interpretation. For instance, you stated that women lead the graph in all age groups except 15-24, but the data shows men also lead in the 25-34 category. Additionally, the description of the female trend is somewhat confusing and does not fully align with the provided chart. To improve, ensure that your data reporting is precise and that your overview clearly highlights the most significant trends without contradictory statements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'namely' and 'respectively', to link information. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as the sentence starting 'In the age bracket of those aged 35 to 44 have the biggest gap'. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, which affects the flow. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensuring that each sentence connects smoothly to the next to create a more cohesive narrative.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'bracket', and 'consistently'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'women leads the graph' (should be 'women lead') and 'the proportions... were increased steadily' (should be 'increased steadily'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your writing. To improve, work on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your vocabulary choices are contextually appropriate for describing statistical data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'Females who does regular physical activity' (subject-verb agreement), 'were age range of 15-24 to age range of 35 to 44' (missing prepositions and awkward structure), and punctuation errors like the stray comma in ',65 and over'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions when describing data ranges.
