Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the chart and provided relevant comparisons. You covered the gender differences and age group trends effectively. However, the response is incomplete as it cuts off abruptly at the end of the final paragraph, leaving the data for the older age groups unfinished. This prevents a full overview of the data. To reach a higher band, ensure you complete all sentences and provide a comprehensive summary of all data points presented in the graph. The overview provided in the second paragraph is clear, but the lack of a conclusion or a fully developed final section limits the overall achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Regarding', and 'In contrast' to guide the reader. However, the abrupt ending of the final sentence disrupts the flow and coherence of the text. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel slightly mechanical. To improve, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that you use a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'depicts', 'proportion', and 'engaged'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'indulged in performing' and 'highly interested in performing different tasks', which are not entirely natural in this context. You also repeat the phrase 'performing physical activities' several times. To improve, try to use more precise synonyms and avoid repetitive phrasing. Expanding your range of academic vocabulary will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'mostly the females performed' (should be 'the majority of females') and 'in the teen age' (should be 'in their teenage years'). There are also issues with punctuation and the incomplete final sentence. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed accurately. Proofreading for minor errors and ensuring all sentences are complete will significantly improve your score.
