Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the task by summarizing the main features of the bar chart. However, the report is somewhat disjointed and lacks a clear, analytical overview. While you mention that females accounted for similar levels of activity to males, the specific data points are sometimes confusingly presented. For instance, the statement 'female almost accounted to men' is unclear. You have identified some key trends, such as the highest percentage for males in the 15-24 age group, but the comparison between groups could be more systematic. To improve, ensure you group data logically and provide a more precise summary of the overall trends rather than listing individual figures in a repetitive manner.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow between sentences is often weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical or misused, such as 'Apart from this' and 'Now, for the age group'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between male and female data. For example, the sentence 'Similarly, for the age group 25 to 34 female accounted to male with the percentage of 48.9% and 42.2%' is confusing because it does not explicitly state which gender corresponds to which figure. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun reference would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'female almost accounted to men' and 'male secure highest percentage'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly ambiguous. You rely on basic descriptors and struggle with accurate collocations related to data reporting. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise verbs and nouns for describing trends, such as 'surpassed', 'fluctuated', or 'a significant proportion'. Expanding your range of vocabulary to include more sophisticated terms for comparison will help demonstrate a better command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'female shows the percentage', 'male score the highest'), missing articles (e.g., 'in the year 2010'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'mostly shown similar'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralization and article usage, and try to vary your sentence structures while ensuring they remain grammatically sound.
