Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the bar chart and provided relevant comparisons between genders and age groups. You covered all age categories and highlighted the highest and lowest points as requested. To reach a higher band, ensure that your data reporting is more precise. For example, in the 25-34 age group, you mentioned '42.2% while, 48.9% women' without a clear verb, which makes the comparison slightly disjointed. Additionally, ensure that you consistently use the same format for reporting percentages to improve the clarity of your summary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You used some cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'meanwhile', and 'furthermore' to link ideas. However, the flow within the body paragraphs is occasionally mechanical. For instance, the sentence structure in the third paragraph is somewhat repetitive, relying on a list-like approach to data. Improving the variety of your linking phrases and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the data, such as 'recorded', 'accounted for', and 'occupied'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'Aged group of 35 to 44' (should be 'In the 35 to 44 age group') and 'amounted to 53% of female did' (which is grammatically redundant). Expanding your range of reporting verbs and noun phrases would help you achieve a higher score. Focus on using more precise terminology when discussing statistical trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and sentence fragments (e.g., 'Men aged 25 to 34 accounted for regular physical activity, with 42.2% while, 48.9% women'). The punctuation around your conjunctions needs attention, specifically the misuse of commas before 'while' and 'meanwhile'. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences will help improve your score in this criterion.
