Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers the main features of the chart, such as the overall trend and the comparison between genders across age groups. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview or summary statement that synthesizes the data effectively. While you identified the key exception (the 15-24 age group), the description of the trends is occasionally confusing, particularly when discussing the 'average' across all age groups, which is not explicitly provided in the chart. To improve, ensure you group data logically and provide a clear, concise overview of the most significant trends in the introduction or as a separate paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into a single paragraph, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. IELTS Academic Task 1 requires clear paragraphing to separate the introduction/overview from the detailed body analysis. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Nevertheless' and 'Consequently', their usage is sometimes forced or inaccurate in context. The flow of information is somewhat disjointed, and the lack of paragraph breaks hinders the overall readability. Using clear paragraph breaks and a wider variety of linking words would significantly improve the logical flow of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of awkward word choices and inaccuracies. For example, 'overpowers' is not the most appropriate term for comparing statistical data; 'outnumbers' or 'is higher than' would be more precise. Additionally, 'Fluctuately' is not a standard adverb in this context. You attempt to use some descriptive language, but the phrasing often feels unnatural. Focusing on more precise mathematical vocabulary and collocations related to data trends will help you move into a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with articles ('the' is often missing), subject-verb agreement ('The bar chart illustrate'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack necessary punctuation, which makes them difficult to parse. For instance, 'age group of 15 to 24 which illustrate men doing regular activity is 52.8%' contains multiple errors in clause structure. While you attempt some complex sentences, the high frequency of errors often impedes the clarity of your message. Prioritize mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
